Functional Artwork: Conceal Canvas – Hide In Plain Sight Storage [Review]

conceal-canvas-reviewArt is subjective. Some people go gaga over an art gallery opening and find themselves whisked into a world of wonder when they see a painting. Some people find art to be neat, but don’t really think anything of it, besides what they see on the canvas. Some people don’t care for art at all and would be fine with the bare necessities of life. Art is subjective.

Functionality is universal. If there is a way to make something easier or more useful, you can sure bet that someone is going to go that route.

Well, we love functionality, and we love art so we decided to test out a product that was designed with both functionality and artistic merit in mind. That’s why we decided to take a look at something new from Conceal Canvas.

Now as you saw in the video, the Conceal Canvas is offered by  www.concealcanvas.com and is a fantastic way to conceal a multitude of self-defense firearms and other valuables in plain sight in your home. At the same time depending on what sort of personal artistic touch you would like for a print, it can brighten up a room, all the while keeping your firearms at a reachable, safe distance.

The folks at Conceal Canvas make it super simple and customizable to put up your new art installation/gun safe. With four versatile options for size, dubbed Alpha (17.25″W x 11.5″H x 2.38″D), Bravo (27.5″W x 13.75″H x 2.38″D), Charlie (26.5″W x 17.75″H x 2.38″D), and Delta (43″W x 21.5″H x 3.5″D) you can go from a canvas a foot and a half wide, all the way up to a piece that is over a yard in width. Also it’s a nice touch that Conceal Canvas places inside each of the boxes a template to follow for quickly mounting the canvas, as Jacob and Riley did in the video.

Once mounted, you have a few options for how to hold your firearms and magazines within the canvas. All of which you can find on Conceal Canvas’ site. There is an option to magnetically hold your guns and ammo, as well as a screw mounted cloth and elastic “holster” with which to hold everything in place with ease.

The Conceal Canvas is opened using a powerful magnet placed near an internal lock that is set to remain locked unless the magnet is properly placed. While it is disclaimed that it should not be substituted in place of a traditional safe and is not intended to be secure storage, the Conceal Canvas does appear to be quite well built and secure, at least as far as keeping guns out of the hands of those you do not intend to have access. The key is for it to function exactly as it is intended which is concealment in plain sight.

The Verdict

Our verdict on Conceal Canvas is that it completely excels in accomplishing just that: convincing concealment of guns and valuables in plain sight with top-notch print quality that is solidly built. If you’re looking for a great way to store your gear and enjoy beautiful artwork on your walls, please go check out Conceal Canvas today.

Very cool. My wife is talking about doing a big wall of canvas art with family photos in our house, maybe I can convince her to do something like this to mount the home defense shotgun. Great video
